Introduction:
Rolwaling valley & Tashi Labtsa-La Pass Trekking, an adventure around scenic and beautiful Rolwaling areas of upper Dolkha district, situated Nepal Mid Eastern Himalaya which is a fair distance drive from the capital Kathmandu.
Rolwaling valley & Tashi Labtsa-La Pass Trekking, where trekkers and adventurer seldom venture around this lovely surrounding covered by central and mid eastern Himalayan peaks of Jugal Himal with Phurba-Gyachu, Gaurishanker and Melung Tse that straddles the border of southern Tibet.
Taking a scenic exciting drive from Kathmandu on Jiri highway (original and classic route to Everest) to reach at Chairkot town, facing array of peaks towards north where our route leads to higher and the down at warmer areas of Tama Kosi which flows from the mountains of Nepal and Tibet.
Walk starts from warm areas heading to cooler zone of lovely dense forest full of rhododendron-hemlocks-pines-magnolia and fir tree lines as route leads past nice farm villages of Simigaon to enter within Sherpa country at high and beautiful Rolwaling valley enclosed by array of snow peaks.
The last village of Rolwaling at Beding with time to explore and acclimatize with short hike and exploring culture and custom of Sherpa people interwoven with Buddhism religion, and then ending towards our adventurous journey at the end of Rolwaling valley.
Before the big climb over high Tashi-Labtsa-la pass with much preparation and staying overnights within massive glaciers of Drolambau near icy Lake of Tsho Rolpo (Cho-Pokhari) then ready for the climb above 5,755 m on top Tashi-Labtsa sandwiched between high peaks of Pachhermo 6,273 m and Teng Ragi Tau at 6,940 meters.
Our final walk of the adventure leads to long descend to reach at Khumbu within Everest region at Thame village and then heading towards Khumbu Sherpa capital at Namche Bazaar before concluding our overwhelming adventure of a lifetime experience in Lukla where a smooth and scenic flight brings you back to hustle and bustle city life of Kathmandu with ever lasting memory of Rolwaling valley & Tashi Labtsa-La Pass Trekking.

Trip Dossier:
Day 01:
Arrival in Kathmandu 1,300m via respective airlines.
On arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuwan International Airport received by our staff and transfer to your Hotel, where our guide provide briefing of the Hotel, Kathmandu, Trekking / Lodge on route with do's and don'ts and other necessary information.
Day 02:
In Kathmandu preparation for Rolwaling Valley & Tashi Labtsa-la pass trekking.
A day in Kathmandu, morning with half day guided sightseeing tour in and around Kathmandu at places of interest, Kathmandu valley and the city steeped with historical monuments listed as World Heritage Sites with time in the afternoon for trek preparation.
Day 03:
Drive to Gongar 1,400 m via Dolkha and Charikot - 07 hrs journeys.
Adventure begins with exciting drive on Kathmandu-Lhasa highway, where drive leads up hills with views of Himalayan peaks, heading past villages and towns to reach at Charikot.
From this nice town our route diverts away from main road heading on dirt road towards Dolkha and Rolwaling areas, as journey continues past farm villages and then reaching at Gongar, located on route Tibet border, with overnight camp near by the river within this warm area of rice terraces and fields.
Day 04:
Trek to Simigaon 2,000 m- 05 hrs.
From this small village, morning walk leads over Tama Kosi River, into a narrow gorge to reach at Chetchet with its cascading magnificent waterfall, from here onwards within cool area, on leaving rice paddy and sub tropical region.
Walk leads to a climb for an hour and then on gradual near level trail, with last climb of the day heading at Simigaon village for overnight stop, Simigaon a nice farm village inhabited by Sherpa tribe, afternoon free at leisure visit its old monastery with stunning views of Mt. Gaurishankar and Melung Tse peak.
Day 05:
Trek to Dovan 2,850 m - 05 hrs.
With nice cool morning, starting our walk heading North East with climb through terraced farm fields and then into serene rhododendron, oaks, magnolia, and pine forest passing several pasture areas, as walk continues above a hill side and then downhill to a river past cattle herders shades and huts at Gyalche.
From here an hour of pleasant walk leads to our overnight camp at Dovan, by the river that flows from the mountains high above, Dovan a small settlement in the middle of a forest with few houses.
Day 06:
Trek to Beding 3,690m - 05 hrs.
Morning walk starts crossing Rolwaling khola (stream) where our route climbs up into tranquil forest, then the path winds up reaching to Nyimare and Ramding small farm villages with temporary settlements of Yak herders, walk continues with a climb and then finally reaching at Beding village for overnight.
Beding village, home of large Sherpa community and last village within Rolwaling Valley, located in a narrow gorge of the valley with an old monastery situated on top of the village, a primary school near the village built and supported by Hillary Trust & Foundation.
Day 07:
Rest day for acclimatization and short hike around.
An important and necessary to have rest day to acclimatize before heading towards higher destinations towards high Tashi Labtsa-la Pass, In Beding village options for short hike around village and to high hills for best views of Mt. Gaurishankar and Melung Tse (Jobo Garee).
Day 08:
Trek to Na Gaon 4,180m - 04hrs.
Today’s walk leads at the end of beautiful Rolwaling valley beneath towering Mt. Gaurishankar 7,145 m and Melung Tse ( Jobo Garee) peaks 7,181 m, on leaving Beding village walking with gradual ups along with great views of snow capped peaks Mt. Gaurishankar, Melung Tse, Ramdung Go 5,930 m, Chukyima go 6,259 m, Tabayabyum 5,558 m, and Yalung ri 5,630 m.
As walk progress then reaching at the end of wide glacial valley of Rolwaling surrounded by high snow capped mountains, after pleasant walk reaching at Na Gaon, a temporary settlement of Beding villagers and cattle herders.
Here Yak and cattle herders grow potatoes, wheat’s and barley here at Na for lunch and overnight camp with time in the afternoon to relax, catch up with the dairy or take a short walk.
Day 09:
Trek to Kabuk at Tsho Rolpa 4,560m - 05 hrs.
After a wonderful stop at Nagaon, our adventure leads towards at the end of Rolwaling Valley, crossing small streams and then leading to Sangma a yak grazing pasture area, here cross a short wooden bridge where trail leads to a steep climb over moraines and streams to reach near a dam of Tsho Rolpa.
This glacial lake also called as Cho Pokhari, our camps is set on a sandy level field on southern bank of Tsho Rolpa at Kabuk, offers views of Tsoboje 6,689 m and Dragker- Go 6,793 m high.
Day 10:
Trek to Drolambau Glacier at Tashi Labtsa Base Camp 5,400 m - 05 hrs.
Around this area being close to the mountain within peaceful wilderness with sound of ice crackling, as morning walk continues to a climb above moraine heading towards northern bank of Tsho Rolpo, then reaching above a glacier which is the centre of a rocky glacier to reach our campsite at the bottom of Drolambu icefall.
After the camp is set, our guides will scout the area for best safe and possible route to reach high Tashi Labtsa-la, sometimes the trail can mislead due to movement of glacier with rock falls every season.
Day 11:
Cross Tashi Labtsa 5,755 m and descend to Thyangbo 4,230 - 08 hrs.
Today a tough and long day of the adventure, starting early morning for the climb towards a glacier section leading towards a spur and up to upper glacier, from here onward ropes need to be fixed with steps-ledge for trekking staffs and porters.
The climb to the pass is not of technical difficulty except in snow conditions, but needs to be careful avoiding some fatal accidents loose falling rocks might occur in some sections.
After checking every member in the group with staff and porters and then climb leads you at the top of a pass taking nearly four hours with much demanding climb to reach top of Tashi Labtsa above 5,755 m high.
After a nice refreshing stop with view of Pachhermo peak at 6,273 m and Teng Ragi Tau at 6,940 meters, the pass festooned with Buddhist prayer flags and cairns, journey continues from the highest point towards Khumbu / Everest region with a long descend to camp at Thyangbo for overnight stop, this is a small summer pasture area for cattle and yaks herders of Thame and surrounding near villages.
Day 12:
Trek to Thame 3,820 m - 06 hrs.
After a tough and long day of previous day, from here onward walk is easier on downhill to reach at Thame village for overnight stop in the comfort of nice cozy lodge, from here on overnight in nice and cozy lodge till Lukla, in Thame with time in the afternoon to visit Thame monastery, one of the oldest Gompa of the region.
Day 13:
Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 05 hrs.
After a nice morning, walk continues crossing over a bridges of Bhote Kosi River and then reaching at Thamo and back into beautiful forest of rhododendron and pines trees as walk leads on gradual wide trail to reach at famous Namche Bazaar, at Namche enjoy the facilities of good restaurant, pubs, cyber café, post office, and banks.
Day 14:
Morning free afternoon trek to Monjo 2,860m - 03 hrs.
After a great and challenging adventure over Tashi Labtsa, morning free at Namche with time to relax and browse around Namche Bazaar markets full of shops and stores, after Rolwaling this will be a civilization with facilities of good hotels-lodge, restaurants, bakeries, cyber café, banks and post-office with many well stocked stores and shops.
Having lunch at Namche descend to Dudh Kosi river valley with easy walk to Monjo located near the entrance and exit gate of Sagarmatha National Park a nice village for overnight stops.
Day 15:
Trek to Lukla - 04 hrs.
Last day of this great journey enjoy the lush greenery landscapes around, a leisure walk with short climb before Lukla and then ending the day in the afternoon in Lukla with time to explore its town with last night dinner around Everest and Khumbu areas.
Day 16:
Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
The flight time to Kathmandu, schedule at morning normally, sometimes flight can get delayed due to bad weather and other reason, as per flight time board on a small aircraft for super flight back to Kathmandu and then transfer back to your respective Hotels.
Day 17:
Free day at leisure.
A free day in Kathmandu, reserved in case of flight delay at Lukla, with spare day enjoy your individual activities and shopping with options to join in tour around Kathmandu-Patan and Bhaktapur.
Day 18:
Transfer to Airport for the International departure.
Today as per your international flight time, our staff transfers you to airport for final departure from the country of Himalayan Wonders, Nepal.
